Importance of Brain Signals

How Does the Brain Affect Us?

As we learn from anatomy and understand the purpose of bodily functions, most tend to neglect the significance of our brain. The human brain is responsible for being the commander & chief of the entire nervous system which affects our bodily reactions, functions & movements. Over time, we abuse our brains more than we enhance them because most forget that once brain cells are lost or destroyed, there is no way to get them back. The brain receives signals from the body's internal sensory organs to send output signals to the extremities (muscles).

Typically, the human brain ways 3-4 pounds including the skull our brains are very sensitive but strong; the brain has 3 main functions to learn, memorize/remember & reason/understand.  The brain controls our abilities to walk, eat, talk, react, move & respond. The brain also regulates and manages certain functions such as heart rate, blood circulation & breathing. More responsibilities of the brain related to speaking, decision-making, emotional cognition & the process of understanding information. There are ways to enhance or improve brain activity and cognitive development.

Ways to Enhance/Improve Cognitive Activity

Maintain/develop health, adequate sleeping pattern

Incorporate naps throughout your day/week

Brainstorm, categorize your thoughts

Use deep breathing techniques to calm/redirect the brain

Don't overwhelm yourself, take the necessary breaks

Eat brain-boosting foods (broccoli, mushrooms, leafy greens, roots)

Exercise, become active daily

The brain is one of the biggest, most important organs that we need in order to survive, think, react & behave. There are superfoods, superfruits, mega meals, etc that can positively affect the brain & overall cognitive development. Nuts, roots & seeds are 3 powerful foods that improve brain functions such as memory, critical thinking & problem-solving skills.

We use those 3 skills every day without realizing it, which is why most people struggle with day-to-day functions, problems & definite results. Nuts and seeds provide the brain with vital nutrients and antioxidants that affect the overall function & development of the brain. Other foods & things that benefit brain functions are wild blueberries, wild salmon, turmeric, lion's mane, celery & dark chocolate.

Exercising allows the brain to gain more oxygen while supplying increased blood flow, this allows the brain to communicate effectively with the body. Staying hydrated with proper nutrition and water affects the brain as well, if the body is not hydrated the brain is dehydrated.
