MENTAL VS GUT HEALTH
First things first, let's discuss the obvious - mental health awareness has emerged over the last decade which has shed light on numerous issues, generational cycles and unhealthy units that exist within our lives. Obviously, we known what mental health is but most don't know how intertwined our brains are with our digestive system, particularly the gut. Usually, we learn how to properly breathe as babies and infants, this natural instinct we learn from birth changes as we age overtime. The gut-brain connection provides the basic understanding of most anxiety or depressive disorders which can be monitored and treated through taking care of one's gut health.
An unhealthy gut can lead to various medical problems such as: insomnia, mood instability, loss of concentration, hormone imbalance, clogged mental patterns, unwanted behaviors, fatigue, tension, etc. The majority of body's serotonin, which is a hormone that affects sleep and mood, is created within the gut. There are significant links and research studies that show major connections between mood and emotional stability being directly affected by poor gut health which is common in most citizens due to unhealthy diets. Poor lifestyle choices, unhealthy eating patterns and inconsistent daily routines negatively affects an individual's mental, emotional and physical health.
Incorporating better eating habits, increasing fitness levels and gaining the proper amount of sleep aids in improving one's overall health - one who is wishing to obtain optimal wellness, must first start from within and work outwardly. Gut bacteria has been directly linked to mood stabilization and behavior control which pertains solely to one's mental health status. Hydration levels in most people are significantly low due to not maintaining an adequate water intake - we tend to drink for flavor or taste instead of hydration and nutrition.
Easy Ways to Improve Gut Health
Eliminate or decrease bleached/unhealthy sugars from your diet
Increase your daily exercise or fitness routines - walk or jog daily
Decrease your red meat intake - meat is too heavy for our internal organs, weighs us down
Remove tobacco products & liquor from your diet
Incorporate hot/warm organic herbal teas into your meals & daily rituals
Stretch your extremities - humans are meant to move & be active
READ, READ, READ - it is good for your brain
It is simple, gut health is a vital part of longevity and inner peace which are major factors in obtaining success and wellness in one's life. By maintaining one's gut health, you're teaching the body how to aggressively fight infections, viruses and bad bacteria which results in optimal wellness and good health.
Remember, the immune system stems directly from the gut, which benefits our cardiovascular, nervous, endocrine, and integumentary systems -- it promotes essential sleep patterns, improved moods & attitudes while decreasing the likelihood of cancer or fatal health conditions occurring.
