Why Should We Stretch?

MOVE YOUR BODY

Stretching is a form of physical exercise that incorporates your surroundings, different energies, chakras and useful forms of meditation. The overall purpose of stretching is alleviate cramps, decrease tension or fatigue and promote muscle strength/durability.

Stretching helps increase joint range of motion, muscle control and flexibility, which tends to decrease as we age.

Stretching and flexing your muscles everyday can improve your overall performance and cognition levels. It also improves blood flow, circulation and cognitive patterns. There are both short and long term benefits that are associated with stretching alike improving mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health. It is important to stretch and massage the connective tissues in our body on a daily basis, seeing as we tend to endure and overwork ourselves.

Easy Stretches to Incorporate into Daily Routines:

Forehead to knees (standing)

Palms to each foot, alternating arms (standing star shaped)

Lunge forward on each leg, alternating legs (quick feet)

Arms to sky, raise above head (standing)

Elbows to knees (standing)

Other benefits linked with stretching is increased energy and sexual levels, better posture, positive emotions, reduced lower extremity inflammation and stronger attention span. Stretching is a major factor of preventive healthcare measures, it has the ability to prevent injuries from occurring. Stretching has been used to promote healthy sleeping patterns, reduce anxiety and depression within individuals which is beneficial and necessary for busy citizens and professionals.
