What Is Depression?

DEPRESSION, THE SILENT KILLER

    Depression is a mood disorder that can be caused by certain circumstances, defeats or losses that happen throughout our lives, it's common for most adults to experience a form of depression or trauma at least once in their lifetime. Depression comes with various emotions and feelings such as grief, sadness, loss of desire or concentration, insomnia, decreased or increased appetite, guilt or anxiety. As of February 2021, depression is the leading disorder in adults and teens throughout the United States with over 300 million people suffering from it currently. 

Depression affects every system throughout our body including the immune, nervous, circulatory and digestive systems - depression can cause weight loss or increase weight gain, affect a person's appetite, mood or thinking patterns. 

    A recent journalist made an outstanding comment about depression in America, he said "Americans are highly concerned with happiness, yet they are increasingly depressed: Some 15 million Americans battle the disorder & increasing numbers of them are young people." This statement shows how depression can come in many different forms, nobody's form of depression is the same - researchers and scientists have evaluated numerous disorders and conditions associated with depression, anxiety and trauma.

    Depression is a very complex disorder, that can be treated and modified in various ways, through certain forms of therapy, interventions and lifestyle alterations. There are various forms of treatment for depression and anxiety, typically mental health therapy and psychotherapy methods are common depressive disorders. 

    However, it is common for people to incorporate holistic health into their healing process which includes less invasive approaches more aligning with nature, energies and optimal wellness. It's important to learn the signs of depression, take notes of the red flags, if you experience emotional issues or mental problems, don't be afraid to seek help. 

    In order to acquire success, happiness and tranquility, we must embrace growth, misfortunes and alignment. It benefits the brain, soul and body to meditate, relax, rejuvenate and cleanse on a daily basis it gets rid of trapped negative energies and vibes. Depression is the silent killer because it usually begins internally and ends externally - educate yourself, mental health is the present, past and future.
