WHAT IS ABUSE?
Abuse is considered to be one of the most common causes for mental illness, emotional instability, delayed personal and professional development -- abuse not only affects the victim in that moment, but it continues to consume them like a growing cancer. American scientists have studied various forms of abuse for many decades, the research is prevailing studies show that “nearly 1 in 5 women &1 in 71 men in the USA have been raped at some time in their lives, including completed forced penetration, attempted forced penetration, or alcohol/drug facilitated completed penetration." That specific statistic pertained to sexual abuse or rape which shows that at least 20% of the American population has experienced some form of sexual abuse at least once in their lifetime.

There are various types of abuse that exist within society beginning with mental, emotional, physical, sexual, verbal, financial and spiritual abuse. Domestic violence, neglect, exploitation and abandonment are considered to be forms of physical, mental, and verbal abuse depending on the victim and situation. The most common forms of abuse in the United States is domestic violence, mental and physical abuse which is more prevalent in certain communities based on socioeconomic status, intellectual and personal development levels. Studies show how a person is more likely to experience a form of abuse from a family member, friend or loved one than a stranger or enemy.
This statement shows how abuse isn't bias or picky, abuse affects everybody that is involved in the situation, abuse can be prevented and eliminated with proper therapeutic techniques and personal choices. It's important to educate yourself about the signs and red flags associated with each form of abuse, as future parents and professionals educating yourself on worldviews and social issues are key factors in building success.
There are signs and risk factors that are associated with each form of abuse, researchers state how abuse is considered to be a traumatic experience which is why effective therapy and healing is necessary for people who have suffered from any form of abuse.
