Deep Breathing Benefits Everybody
Learning to Breathe
Deep breathing is medically known as 'diaphragmatic breathing' which is considered to be one of the most effective ways to breathe because this type of breathing allows you to breathe freely from your gut. Contracting the diaphragm allows the lungs to operate better from a horizontal perspective. There are various ways to deep breathe or contract your lungs, most people do the techniques of yoga or meditation because different positions or bodily movements allow the lungs to operate better.
There are numerous benefits that come from this holistic practice such as decreased stress, tension & concentration difficulties. Deep breathing also enhances your overall focus & cognition levels, while improving your recovery times which typically decline as we age. Deep breathing is often used for anxiety & depression within various therapy methods, it causes direct changes immediately which has been proven to help mental health patients.
Deep breathing is so effective because it allows us to activate the 'vagus nerve' which is the leader of the parasympathetic system, this nerve controls the mood, heart rate, and digestion levels. Its' main job is to conserve the body's most vital energy for urination and digestion because it is considered the 'rest/digest' mode. When first beginning deep breaths, it is very common to feel lightheaded or uneasy because your body is actively operating differently, however, it's important that you know to increase your breaths in order to gain more oxygen.
Once your body grows accustomed to deep breathing techniques, the uneasiness will remove itself over time as you become more comfortable with the process. Deep breathing improves your overall quality of life and enhances your personal development while reducing tension to improve headaches or muscle pains. Deep breathing promotes body detoxification, and gut cleansing plus it enhances overall mood development.
